The Red Market

Is the human body sacred? Or is it a commodity ready to be chopped up and exposed to the forces of supply and demand?
These are important contemporary issue questions and the opening lines to this article @ http://www.wired.com/magazine/2011/01/ff_redmarkets/
Read the article and find out what the “red market” is all about. Make sure you look at all four pages of the article. How should you as a Christian address this issue….should we start some active protests or should we just ignore it and pretend it doesn’t exist…or perhaps something in the middle…give me your thoughts in 50 or more words!

  1. The red market is sickening. I think it's okay to give your organs to someone who needs them if you want to but It shouldn't be stolen from you. People shouldn't be killed or have their organs taken after they die it's disrespectful. If you need an organ so bad you need to pay the full price not the cheap price for a stolen one.

  3. The red market is very absurd. I think from a Christian standpoint that taking prisoners and extracting their body parts or blood is just flat out cruel .I think someone willing to give an organ or even blood out of the kindness of their heart to someone they know or don’t know is another thing. But buying someone’s body part and paying them legally, but cheating them is wrong. People who do this absurd thing are for one desperate, and trying to make a quick buck.

  4. I think we can all agree that stealing, killing, or kidnapping for blood, hearts, and other body parts is wrong. Although, donating these things is actually very good. I think its pretty amazing that God created us so that if we needed a body part that we could use one that no one else needs anymore.

  5. The red market sounds like a horrible thing. The body is one of the few things that is always yours and should not be taken from you even after you are dead. If you want to help someone out and donate a body part or blood, that decision is up to you and only you, and should never under any circumstances be stolen from you. Even if you die, if you didn't want to give up any part of your body, the people who are still living on earth should respect that wish and leave your body as it was. Although in my opinion if you die, I think if your body could save someone, you should do it.

  6. the red market is a pretty messed up system. the fact that people would murder someone to make a profit is an abomination to mankind. though consensual donation is perfectly acceptable, stealing from cadavers is low and detestable.

  7. The red market is a very messed up organization. It is crazy that people are willing to donate, or perhaps not willingly, their body parts they are still using. Well, unless you die and you are a donor. However, I think as a Christian we believe our body is a temple, and we should treat it with honor and resepect. I think in doing things like this, selling your body parts for needed money, is crazy.
